News Groups are essentially what Poal is minus the "newbnet" interface... Newbnet was a term coined on irc/newsgroups/and gopher to describe the world wide web that many feared would bring a normie shitstorm of drek into the network.... And here we are today. Anyways I thought it would be a neat idea as silicon valley kikes don't pay attention to newsgroups as they are an "outdated" form of communication.

I am totally willing to do configuration and setup as well. Done it a million times.

GET ON THE ARK SERVER!

I FUCKING WISH. I have been monitoring the forums and we are @ 7 days with no love for linux or mac. I really hope the free weekend wasn't a ploy to get that last bit of sheckle before ditching the project.

I think I'm going to setup a small VM for you to do this on, I'll have to finish the VPN vm but you can host it on the lab, mumble is lab hosted and so is the steam server both seem to work well, so it should handle a BBS as well just fine. I'll finish the VPN tomorrow at work

Cool, I can start on it this weekend. Newsgroups are easy to get rolling, the BBS is being a bitch because you need to run dosemu to get classic door games working and there is no way in hell I would throw a board up without OG multiplayer games. Could be a hanging offense in some circles of thought. I can just get stuff rolling and transfer configs. The resource cost will be high, say about 16 megs of ram and one core at 100mhz. hehehe.

Shit I was going to add another server to the datacenter to accomidate this but shit I don't need to at those cost.... I probably will anyway but I'm a nerd.

Sounds like a good idea. @pmyb2

The other beauty of a newsgroup server is low cost of resources. I was running a server on a 386 with one meg of ram as well as email and routing back in 95 and it ran like a champ. Also you can get clients on ANY platform known to man as well as web interface clients.
