Creating millions of virtual universes to find one that matches what we've seen does not mean that extrapolation of the data is anything more than that. Hopefully, when we understand what all the energy in the universe actually is, not just "dark matter" and "dark energy" making up the vast majority of what we know exists, these models will become relevant. RIght now creating millions of virtua universes to find one that approximates what we believe to have actually happened, and on a ridiculously tiny scale at that, only means that the algorithms actually taught us very little. This is a useful endeavor. I'm not sure it's useful science since it just didn't bring any new and real answers to the table.
