I'm on the fence about the whole atheists/theists debate. Stimulating the temporal lobes produces spiritual experiences, the way I understand this is that our brains are wired to have spiritual experiences. The big bang theory explains what happened a few seconds after the big bang but no real explanation as to what caused it. Freud attempted to explain faith from a psychological perspective by reducing the belief in god as culmination of "daddy issues", roughly speaking. On the other hand, his protege Jung went heavy into mysticism and spirituality and attempting to explain their roles in the human experience. Science hasn't proved that god doesn't exist and religion hasn't proved that he does. I'm staying on the fence until better explanations are offered.
