You are correct.

I will not walk into a Starbucks, Peetes, Costa, Caffè Nero, Dunkin Donuts or any other big coffee chain because paying over $5 for a cup of coffee is insane.

I used to stop at a small sidewalk breakfast cart on my way into the office. It was run by an Eastern European guy (Russian, Ukrainian, one of those) and the coffee was fresh-brewed and tasty. Then one day there was a different cart, run by a different guy, and it was halal.

I walked away and never went back.

I invested into an automatic cleaning coffee espresso maker machine for 1000 bucks. Makes consistent fresh ass coffee each time, wide variety of selections but only use two. Espresso or americano (regular coffee). Little upkeep and cleaning. I don’t pay companies to give me less than good acidic garbage for way more than it’s worth. Haven’t in many years.

I still use my mom's forty year old "mr. coffee".

I had a regular one but it started to burn the bottom when keeping hot. The coffee near end of pot was acidic.
Good coffee doesnt have that acidic taste. (Black coffee without shanagins). The first couple cups weren’t bad. But I had to be specific about the amount I used depending on how much I wanted that day. I’d throw half pot out due to over time burning.

I even enjoy instant coffee.

Now that it’s hot again, I don’t mess with hot coffee. I make cold brew coffee using these kind of jumbo brew bags in a big pitcher of cold water. I put whatever bag of ground coffee was on sale inside and 24 hrs later, I’ve got a pitcher full of cold brew ready to go over ice with a splash of milk. Tastes great to me.

The traffic at the Starbucks/Chipotle in my town is down at least 90%. They just opened a few years ago, cars lined up well into the parking lot every day for months. Now, nearly a ghost town. Was a great short opportunity.

I guess gen z and millennials are finally starting to worry about finances. When you have to worry about paying your rent and buying groceries or having a $5 cup of coffee a day...

I use a SS coffee press I bought on Amazon many years ago. It's insulated and keeps the coffee hot for hours.
