This is an old alarmist headline. Of course Bitcoin uses a lot of energy! --that's part of what gives it its value, based upon the computing power it takes to calculate or "mine" the cryptographic "coins." But just think of all the electricity used by the traditional financial establishments; banks, wall street, etc. Bitcoin is a dwarf by comparison.

You mean the fake environmental image they project? Battery powered electric vehicles require vast amounts of strip mining for rare elements, a ton a energy to build the batteries, coal to make electricity and send it over hundreds of miles, and a large toxic battery to dispose, possibly several times during the car's lifetine.
