I'm so old, I remember a time when if you used Google, you found what you were looking for.

I'm so old I recall a uni buddy bragging about this new tool to find websites. Written by geeks for geeks

Bring back old search engines like Lycos, AskJeeves & Webcrawler.

Altavista is what I used.

... because digital competed with Intel. Anybody remember Windows NT on Alpha?

I don’t want results that use nigger slang like, low-key.

Lycos is pozzed worse than Bing.

They've cut the nuts off all the search engines while massively censoring all of the places like Reddit, where you're more likely to find that you're looking for

Did the test on goo.gle and came to different results than michaelsuede; 8/10 results showed here, so here's a laymans input:

Perhaps your ISP is a (heavily) contributing factor?

goo.gle is, at best, biased/'colored' here too, which i noticed during the last two years of covid-nonsense, but i suspect that there are several layers of filtering going on from wherever to here..

I bet a Chinese isp would have some very different results.

We'll do the thinking for you.

Unfortunately, deplorables are excited about this. Thinking is too much work.

just like those people that accuse others of being a conspiracy theorist. Its easier to label someone than actually researching the evidence. To many people make up their minds from just reading the headlines and only the headlines!

use yandex.com

it surely is not google....

Its jewess CEO cried out in pain while flying back to Israel with the entire database.

Well, the good thing is that she has been sent back...

Plus, can you suggest an alternative ? .....

Reddit's r/conspiracy is talking about this right now. Many comments have been removed.

Apparently there is an open source distributed and self hosted search engine project: https://yacy.net/

You just download the java binary and start the server. I haven't used it yet so I don't understand how it works fully but apparently:

  • You start the server on your computer

  • Use your browser to connect to it locally and search the web.

  • You can configure the server for things like storage and web crawling. It will your local storage for the p2p mesh data in some manner but I am not certain how this works.

Gab was also hiring search engineers a few months ago.

Search is dead. The distributed model going forward is going to be the way.

Do you run your own instance or just a public one?

[–] 0 pt

I am using my own, and I am pleased with it. You can set up a server, or just run it on your computer you use.

Having access to it from my phone from outside the home is the part I most like.

They hate Russia so much. Use Yandex instead of google out of spite. It's better anyway. I've been using it since last time DuckDuck announced they were going woke. It's way less censored. Look up the Holodomor on google vs yandex, you get completely different results.
