This statistic was always deliberately flawed. They looked at peer reviewed studies, decided whether the author was for or against "anthropogenic global warming" and categorized the studies accordingly. In 68 percent of cases they couldn't tell where the author stood. So they dropped that data. Of the remaining 32 percent they felt 97 percent agreed.
