I'm doing a renovation and one room is oddly shaped with small dimensions. I want to avoid central lighting so shadows aren't cast but i also want to try and have relatively even lighting.

Also for the bay window nook i'd like to have lighting so that if someone put a desk there they wouldn't cast shadows on their work place by sitting there.

Can someone please help me figure out how to layout this room? I've tried putting up a paper circle mock up of the 4th row 3rd column (8x 4" lights) and it's definitely evenly lighted and near perfectly spaced but it's a little busy and no other room will be like that.

I've got 4" and 6" flat recessed lights at the moment.

Thanks!

3 6" lights go 3.5 feet off the side walls, 4 feet off the top and bottom.

Thanks! So basically a version of the bottom left of the top right 4?

What's your opinion of a 4" setup?

Or what's your opinion on 2 4" in the bay window, 2 4" in the left nook and one in the upper right, all 2' from the walls?

Yes. 4" might do it but I don't know what lights you are actually working with. I aiming for sufficient light with thoughtful and deliberate spacing you can put them on a dimmer, can't you?

Thanks Ya they'll be on a dimmer.

The lights I'm using are the ensenior 750LM

I'll actually pre wire them up before the drywall is up to see how the lighting actually plays out.

What's the purpose of this room?

Will they have a TV or desk in it?

What direction will the bay window be facing?

Are they in the northern or Southernern hemisphere?

Are they Vampires?

Lead the clients through these questions and you'll seem super professional and you can charge them more

What's the purpose of this room?

Office / Guest bedroom

Will they have a TV or desk in it?

TV is likely on the right most wall or the top of the black square area. Desk most likely in the bay window area at the bottom.

Are they in the northern or Southernern hemisphere?

Northern

Are they Vampires?

I can't violate the first rule of vampire club
