Sounds like 8 too many. Everything should always be based on merit. Not on what you look like. Articles like this are basically saying "its racist to not let low effort, low preforming students into your elite schools to fuck them up". Fuck that, if you don't have the skills you don't get in. No free passes because you are not White or Asian.
