Here's a pack of new 3.3kΩ 2 watt resistors next to it's replaced 3.3kΩ 2 watt carbon cousin, a 1 watt 470Ω carbon, and 1/2 watt 2.7kΩ carbon.

You could almost replace all the 1/2 watt carbons with new 2W if you wanted to.

It's not about how big it is, but how you use it...

Don't use it in a spot where you need a higher power rating and you'll be fine.
