These people are idiots for courting mass appeal, the games industry needs competent risk takers willing to put many years behind an IP and appeal to players with quality gameplay and an environment of total freedom that's how you launch a billion dollar franchise.
These idiots think it needs diversity and representation, this could easily become the biggest single financial mistake in history, Microsoft has spent something like 70 billion on acquisitions in under 7 years, like most acquisitions I expect personnel to get paired down, this going to lead to worse games and the games industry isn't inflating its costs like the film industry, a film can bomb and nobody really loses in hollywood so long as it makes back the production cost a conventional AAA game costs twice what a blockbuster does and then double that for a marketing budget.
Halo infinite and GTA 5 both had budgets over half a billion dollars, halo infinite is still under water on its budget 3 years after it was set to launch.
