What else did you think made them change the flag from the three colored one to a white one?

The bird is female, but displays a degree of male coloration in some feathers. So basically, it's a cross-dresser. Just like with human cross-dressers, nature fucks up sometimes. And like its human counterpart, scientists don't believe the bird will be able to reproduce, being unable to attract a male. Got that right.

Most human cross dresser aren't fucked up that way, in this bird a chromosome seems to have changed during "pregancy", similar stuff happens in humans, rarely, but AFAIK they rarely go out and crossdress.
