Shh! You're gonna ruin my secrets!
Freebird is a real crowd pleaser. It's also pretty easy - and very easy to extend into a 12 to 15 minute song, without anyone getting lost and still sounding good. It's great to play when you're exhausted and/or mildly intoxicated.
In other words, it is probably the #1 most common song that I've ever played in an encore.
What we do is we make it look complicated - but we're really just showing off.
If you get good AND I spend a few shows with you, I'll know your playing well. You will also know my playing well.
Why do I share that?
'Cause this looks fucking fantastic and wows the crowds. They think we're guitar gods. We're not.
I'll reach over and play my guitarist's guitar and he'll reach across and play mine. Basically, he does the picking on my guitar and I do the picking on his guitar.
It looks fantastic. 'Snot actually hard.
Another way to do it is that I'll go up behind him and take over doing the fretting. He'll use his right hand and I'll use my left hand.
I'm pretty sure we've practiced this only like twice - but we regularly do this during the encore.
It looks hard. It's not.
Also, Firefox is being weird.
Oh I’m determined to unlock the secrets of this guitar thing sitting next to me.
You're not gonna unlock any secrets with it just sitting next to you! ;-)
It will migrate its way back into my hands after I finish this giant scanning job I must do.
