Just came in today, Musician's Friend had a 25% of sale for October so I pulled the trigger and it was a total of $180 with tax. Was going to get the cheap Hofner but I am not really a bass player so got this and it is great for the price will do the trick. Got flatwound beatle bass strings and tea cup knobs coming and that should do the trick on this one!

What year?

In the late sixties I climbed into my grandma's attic and there was a Hofner bass.

I freaked out and said man this must be worth a fortune.

But it was just, likely, one of thousands that were sold at that time after the Beatles took over the world.

Dunno what happened to it, it wasn't mine to keep.

This is a brand new Rogue (Musician's Friend/Guitar Center chink brand) that was cheap but reviews are decent on it. Played a little and it's fine if you want a Beatle bass for little money that sounds and plays nice.

Then it wasn't, not is would be worth a few thousand.

There were but Paul got one because it was short scale and cheap. In high school a friend scored an old Rickenbacker like Lennon's cheap that was in bad shape from being stored in a basement. He refinished it in a horrible orange color and while I wouldn't mind one now I was not totally into it. The thing had a child's neck with a 19" scale so it was hard to play many things on. Maybe a chink copy will scratch that itch?

Makes sense, didn't know that. I'm almost positive I had a Rickenbacker bass but I'm not sure, you'd think I'd remember that. It could have just been a Fender. Always used a pick.

I did play a small Fender Mustang bass for a while, I don't see them anywhere nowadays.

I built a clone of this, and popped in a 3rd humbucker for shits and giggles.

Result: There is a reason 3 humbuckers are not done, but it was still an interesting tone/experiment.

I wouldn't mind a SG with 3 buckers but just for the looks, not the sound....

Beautiful piece!

You have any Gibson's?

You have any Gibson's?

No, I did have some really nice ones in the past but these days I am satisfied with midrange Epiphones. The fit and finish on them are really nice and they use CTS pots and decent pickups, tuners, and hardware. Too many stories of bad quality Gibsons at really high costs and I am not a professional musician.
