I've been working on a video service for poal, maybe I should look into starting an audio service it would actually be much more easily accomplished than video.

Noted and I'm pretty sure I have some solutions to them, the problem is finding some source code to do it, as I haven't found anything geared towards audio since I started looking a few minutes ago.

In the end, I remember many concerts I went to back in the day long before anybody recorded them. Sometimes the value is in those experiences and the "magic of the moment". After all, art is personal but I do realize music is better when, and meant to be, shared.

Yeah, look at the link. You still have time to download stuff until late August. At least they have the integrity to announce it ahead of time, unlike the many image sites. A couple of us are working on ways to do something but it may be be a more personal, restricted way.

My personal issue right now is the FNGT archives, almost 2 years worth. So many great artists, some of which have gone away, have posted some great works. I hope we will figure out a way to preserve them all.

Maybe you can come up with something so original music can still be shared?

I actually probably can, Ive got to watch the kids right at the moment but get with me in a PM and maybe between you and me and maybe even another friend we share something can be done to preserve the whole thing.

When I have more technical info and what we come up with to offer I will, but that's not a strong point of mine. I know that a couple of other services are still usable at this time. Vocaroo allows anon uploads, and downloads, but they auto-delete after a few days. Soundcloud has paid subscriptions that offer longer term retention grouped by account. May want to see what they do to start.

Hey, Harry. Yep, it doth indeed sucketh. At least they had the decency to let people know ahead of time. Gotta give them a lot of credit for that.

At least a good portion of your work is on other hosts. Of course my personal concern right now is FNGT and the archives. "Others'" are aware and will figure out something to meet our needs, but currently has a more important personal situation to address. As it stands I intend to retrieve every track possible from the last 2 years of archives and hold them until a solution is in place. Rock n Roll will never die!

Thank you. Of course your Youtube stuff won't be affected, and I'm sure this whole situation will be addressed in an upcoming FNGT thread. It will be nice when the whole Voat thing gets worked out and we can go back to normal.
