To: <post.pet@bundestag.de> Subject: Request for publication of Petition 181498 – Gun Law (1-21-06-7111-001798)

Dear Members of the Petitions Committee,

I am following the discussions surrounding German gun law with great interest – particularly with regard to safety, proportionality, and freedom of innovation. In this context, I learned of the petition with the reference number 181498 (1-21-06-7111-001798), submitted by Mr. Jörg Sprave.

I would like to urgently request that you release this petition for publication and signature.

In my opinion, the petition is factually sound, legally sound, and socially relevant. It addresses an issue that concerns many citizens, and it does so with a sense of proportion. In my view, the idea of allowing certified KWS holders to use modern distance defense devices such as stun guns is a constructive contribution to the public security debate.

I find it all the more disconcerting that the preliminary review apparently recommended rejecting publication. Such a decision – especially without any public discussion – comes across as opaque pre-censorship and damages trust in the petition system. I find this deeply disappointing, especially since the Minister of the Interior himself recently emphasized the effectiveness and safety of these devices – in the context of the planned equipment for the Federal Police.

I would very much like to sign this petition – and know of many others who feel the same way. However, this requires publication.

I therefore appeal to you: Give this petition a fair chance. Let the public discuss it.

Sincerely, [First name, Last name] [optional: Place of residence or zip code] [optional: Occupation or short addition such as "sports shooter," "father of two children," or similar] How this content was made
