Amazing that we could do such a thing to men who should have been treated like proper POW's. Having worked at the historical site of the infamous Civil War prison at Andersonville, you'd think the US government would know what NOT to do (although they treated Confederate POW's just as bad, so it's not surprising) I was aware of some of these facts concerning surrendering Germans before, but never so detailed and concise. Thank you for posting this. It should be required viewing for anyone with an interest in REAL history.
