Patton was based. He realised that the allies fought the wrong enemy and wanted to fight the Soviet. Shame the Jews killed him.
My mother gave me a book about him when I was in my early teens. It was a fascinating book. He was educated and much smarter than his peers. Honestly that says a lot as many of those leaders were highly educated. I think West point at the time was just a superior school. Along with Virginia Military Institute, he was predisposed to be a great leader.
What’s the book?
The one most people read is "War as I knew it". However, there is another book that goes deeper called "Ordeal and Triumph". It has been out of print for years, but you can get it on Kindle.
Bill O'Reilly wrote a great book about it: 'Killing Patton'.
I do not remember. I just remember how fascinating it was.
What book? He was an all round very accomplished man, did you know he competed in modern pentathlon in the 1912 summer olympics? Very impressive for a man with such a busy schedule.
Not only was he higher educated but also very very rich. He didn't have to go into the military, but chose to do so.
