Stuff like this is cheap as dirt for what it is because most people don't want to buy it, have no idea how to use it and they are power hogs.

I have managed a FX2 system before and it was great. It's almost shocking to me how "cheap" this is. If I had a good place to put it I could replace my entire homelab with it easily. It would cost me MUCH more to build out separate nodes for my proxmox system.

They are loud, they run hot but you get a ton of RAM and a lot of cores. You can get sleds that are just for storage too. It would be a single point of failure if you don't have 2 but come on. 10gb networking? Ton's of ram, tons of core's, multi node? If you don't care about power and the heat its going to put off this is CHEAP.

If the listing is not bunk, thats half a TB of RAM. Each node having 256gb and 32 cores. All for ~$1200

yeah... yeah... Well, I would use it. So there is that. I am running into lack of memory with my current stuff which is why I am thinking about a "refresh". I am using a few old off-lease SFF desktops with maxed out ram (too bad they only go to 32gb. If they could at least do 64gb it would help a lot).

I also really want to build a system that would allow me to drop in a few GFX cards for local AI stuff. I currently have one in my storage server attached to a VM for that since its always online anyway but it would be nice if I could attach any of my VM's to a GFX card for that.

I am probably going to end up with a old 3U supermicro blade setup that would allow me to drop some GFX cards into it. I need to spend some time to research that stuff again since the last time I really put effort into it was a few years ago and decided I didn't really need it and it cost too much. However, now I want to run my own local "AI" models for various stuff so the use-case has changed.

I guess it depends. Under full load its going to be a shit load but under idle? Maybe like 400w per blade-ish? Full load.. Probably as much as 2kw per blade-ish.

The chassis is going to take some power to run too so I am not sure on that. I ran these in a DC, I didn't exactly have a care for measuring how much power it was sucking down under load. I am just estimating based on the datasheet's and some posts I read.
