Should have trusted whoever was in charge of his air-force as well. German's had the only operational jet fighter, ME-262. It was designed as a fighter interceptor. As soon as Hitler saw it he ordered them refitted to be essentially bombers. For all practicality taking them out of the battle right when the Allies were bombing the living shit out of them everyday. Not many ME-262's actually saw any battle as they were most all grounded.
