The offense or offenses for which the officer was charged were prohibited from publication. The photographers have nothing to do with what was said in the article by Tal Cohen An officer who served in the IDF's Intelligence Division was arrested and put on trial dead in circumstances that were banned from publication. The indictment, the content of which is classified, was filed last September in a military court. The offenses with which the officer was charged were prohibited from publication, as well as any detail that might identify him.

Haaretz and Ynet, through attorney Yaron Hanin of the Lieblich-Mozer-Glick law firm, want to allow the publication of additional details in the case. So far, the military tribunal has allowed the following wording to be published:

"In September 2020, after an investigation by the IDF, an indictment was filed against an officer who served in the Intelligence Division in the military tribunal. The officer was arrested by a decision of the military tribunal and the legal proceedings in his case have not yet been decided. On the night of May 16-17, 2021, the officer was in a military detention center in the center of the country in a serious medical condition. The officer seeks medical treatment at a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Notice was given to his family.

The IDF's Internal Investigations Unit (the military equivalent of DIP) began investigating the circumstances of his death, at the end of which the findings will be submitted to the military prosecutor's office for examination. The hearings in the officer's case were held behind closed doors and a blanket restraining order was issued in relation to them. An additional restraining order was issued in relation to the investigation of the Internal Investigation Unit regarding the circumstances of his death. "
