Smart home builders in the US do that as well. The best by far that I have found is the AutoMist system. It puts misting sprinkler heads around your house that can target hot spots and extinguish fires with very little water, saving tens of thousands of dollars in smoke and water damage. It is really amazing. When I build on my property in TX I will be putting in this system.

Not only does this little village have better access to water than the most populous areas of California (and also has instant deployment) I'll bet their wifi is faster than the fastest consumer internet connection in California.

Japanese firefighters are based ninjas. I was backpacking around Japan and ran into some firefighters training. They were practicing reverse rappelling 4 stories up a building.
