Albert Einstein, his wife Elsa and Zionist leaders on their arrival in New York City on board the Rotterdam, April 1929.

Left to right: Menachem Ussishkin (with the hidden hand), Chaim Weizmann, Vera Weizmann, Albert Einstein, Elsa Einstein and Ben-Zion Mossinson.

Weizmann went on to become the first President of the State of Israel. "What united them was the theory of Zionism which, like the theory of relativity, was an “original and disruptive idea” for its time that changed the way Jews thought of themselves and the rest of the world thought about them" (The Australian Jewish News, 2000).
