Pronouns are not for other to decide - Pronouns are what you decide to call something in third person. Some men call their vehicle "she" because they know of the temperamental nature of it and their relationship to it. In passive layman expressions some working components that work but get into difficulty can sometimes be called by something gendered as well. It does not mean a chunk of metal is male or female, it purely refers to the respect and affection one has for that piece.
