When you're in desperation mode, grasping at straws comes with the territory, and even the flimsiest hope is better than none at all. Plus MSM has become much like crazed jesusfreaks carrying about their REPENT! THE END IS NEAR! signs. The end has been near for about a thousand years now, and the end is always tomorrow, then pushed back til the day after that, and the day after that. I think MSM has adopted the same strategy. If one predicts the end of the world (or Trump) day after day, week after week, year after year....sooner or later the law of averages just has to throw you a bone, then you can squeal and cheer and pat yourselves on the back....and proclaim you were right!
