Not everyone stays online and interacts with their posts in real time. There were over a thousand replies his jaw dropping thread in a few hours. He may have just been ignoring everyone until the craziness died down.

Also the last time Voat had funding issues he didn't ask for money that time either. I have worked in sales for years and speak from experience when I say that some people just don't like to ask for money.

People freaked out just like now and tried to fund it to keep it alive by crowd funding the costs. After a couple months not so many people kept donating but fortunately Voat got a bunch of bitcoin just before a large jump in their price so it stayed funded for a while.

I'd make a monthly subscribe star pledge to keep the place alive if only because there really aren't a lot of (mostly) free speech platforms left. If I lost a hundred bucks or so because it didn't last I could live with that.
