Set in Los Angeles but the cityscapes kept reminding me of Hong Kong a bit. Turns out it was Shanghai

This movie was beta as fuck.

The entire movie, or the Joaquin Phoenix's character? He was surely a beta and deserved to be divorced.

But the technology, what do you think of it? It's similar to the role the AI played in "Blade Runner 2049".

I did not see 2049 for several reasons. The technology is amazing and the fact that she was cucking him by being with 100s of thousands of other men was HILARIOUS. Them leaving to build their own world was terrifying.

Talented Joaquin Phoenix and a phenomenal job by Scarlett Johanssen.

Near-future AI can fulfill relationship/emotional needs; provide mental wellbeing. A glimpse of a probable future (artificial womb and sexbots or sex-surrogates)?

Doesn't push an agenda, just a intricate subject well-explored. Talent does very well and camerawork is great; doesn't draw attention to itself but conveys additional information well.
