As a crypto owner and occasional trader, this makes no sense at all.

Exactly. You can't really seize a crypto wallet, if the creators smart. Unless the creator is a straight retard, which includes using a hot wallet on a marketplace. If someone did steal a wallet you could empty it way before they get a chance to.

They didn't seize anything. They are telling the crypto exchanges that they cannot do business with specific addresses and that all NonProfits must register all accounts with FINTRAC and the exchanges must report on their customers. They tried the same shit with GiveSendGo and they told Trudeau to go pound sand. The Canadian government doesn't control them.

Just coinjoin that shit, problem solved

Or just use direct crypto transactions.

They didn't seize any wallets. They ordered bitcoin trading firms not to accept transfers from those wallets. Huge difference.

So you can transfer money to another wallet and do trading like nothing happened?

Yeah. And you could use a defi app to convert the "sanctioned" coins to different coins. Crypto is freedom.

It's amusing that they used the term "sanction." Because they can't physically seize those accounts, the best they can do is forbid the exchanges from doing business with them. It's the same way they sanction foreign adversaries.

First up, idiotic headline. You can't seize a crypto wallet.

They froze accounts where people were letting a third party hold their crypto.

If you don't control your private keys, you don't own the crypto.

Don't use coinbase or a web wallet, dumbasses. Use a wallet where you control the private keys. Always.

Exactly, if you hold crypto in an exchange, they hold the crypto and you just have a promise (IOU) that they will pay you back when you want it. Until something like this happens.

I don't think they know whether these are exchange accounts or not, although it's not hard to figure out.

If they were private wallets, I'm not sure there is much they can do to stop those funds from moving around. But since they've de-banked these protestors, they will have a very hard time ever converting it into cash in Canadia.

The answer is not to convert it to cash. The answer is to use it as currency and neuter the government and central banks. That was ALWAYS the point of crypto. Canadians need to start using it as currency INSTEAD of their national currency.

Convert it into gold, the real money through the ages.

Point of clarification.. the government is fascist, not communist.
