'you see, children... we can use modeling to determine the efficacy and accuracy of models'. i was in home depot talking to an old vet about the'rona and this gal piped in her opinion. which i welcome open discussion. she said paraphrasing ' i'd better trust the science, i'm a retired science teacher'. my reply was "then you should know about the scientific method". the blank stare...the blank stare. then she scurried off to help some people.

The scientists are funded by the companies or governments that are paying for desired results. What can you expect?

No it can't be fixed, except for basic research. Basic research is underfunded in public institutions, and where it is well funded it's kept under lock and key because it's seen as an economic investment for the parent company. On the other hand, there's so much basic empirical research that if you are a smart boi, you can derive the mechanisms or principles involved, or at least give you a ledge to stand on.

It starts out a an interesting story that is probably valid but then they bait you to subscribe to give them $$ to continue, I never trust a story with bait.
