With a concentraing solar plant, birds can be harmed when they fly too close to the path of the reflected solar energy. If they do, they can basically get cooked by the high energy rays.

The estimate by biologists is that the Ivanpah solar plant kills about 3,500 birds per year this way.

The birds often have short-range habitats and solar requires huge amounts of land, which makes the land uninhabitable to birds. Also the reflections are very hot.

I fucking hate those giant gott damned windmills. The fucking only thing I thought would be safe , the natural beauty of God's creation , they manage to fuck that up too with these things .

I delivered parts to a fucking wind farm , some contractor told me the things kill a shit ton of raptors and other birds. Beautiful mountain range , topped with these monstrosities , fucking disgusting.
