That’s right: New Zealand’s Civil Aviation Authority is asking that its national airline weigh passengers departing on international flights from Auckland International Airport through July 2, 2023.

The program, which Air New Zealand calls a passenger weight survey, is a way to gather data on the weight load and distribution for planes, the airline said."

Sadly, its only voluntary. Nothing will come of it because people are triggered enough by it.

Obviously it needs to happen. I'd hate to get on a plane with a bunch of fats knowing that the takeoff/fuel consumption is based on an estimated average weight of person + known weight of luggage.

I'd be hoping they had a few spare Jerry cans of fuel on board.

The other funny thing is, people who choose to get weighed are not the people who they need to get weighed :⁠-⁠D

Yeah, Interestingly its just for a survey it looks like. Also, gate attendants wont be able to see your weight and neither will you. There is no display attached and the data goes straight into the survey system.
