This trial, much like the Maxwell trial, was a cover up operation. They deliberately charge them with minor and tangential matters, hold a trial with much fanfare then at the end declare, "oh well, I guess there wasn't that much to it.". The general public then quickly forgets about it and anyone who continues to maintain that there was more to it is labelled a "conspiracy theorist". In this way, the worst of the crimes are covered up, not to protect the operative Maxwell/Epstein/Combs, but to protect the kompromat. The tapes exist, and they are still held in secret (if the tapes are exposed, the power of the kompromat is lost). It's interesting to note that the main prosecution lawyer was Maurine Comey. That name might sound somewhat familiar, yes, she is the daughter of James Comey. Her job is to appear to do a good job prosecuting these people, without exposing the underlying kompromat.
