Coldest ARCTIC BLAST of the season sets the Northeast and Upper Midwest in a DEEP FREEZE – Extremely dangerous driving conditions
Frigid conditions are on their way to the northeastern United States this week after a powerful cold front sweeps through the region.
Bitter cold and high pressure are likely to arrive in the North Central states on Monday, with forecast temperatures in the middle teens in Chicago. This time of year the Windy City usually has afternoon temperatures just around freezing.
Cities up north, like Duluth, Minnesota and Grand Forks, North Dakota, won’t have temperatures rise above 0 F all day on Monday. Daily temperature departures across the Upper Midwest could be easily 10-20 degrees Fahrenheit below normal on Monday, and gusty winds will allow conditions to feel even colder.

Couple of years ago the cold was WAYYYYY more intense than it is now. Don’t get me wrong, it’s cold af but I’m not seeing the mayhem I saw a couple of years ago. I was running 4 days with no decent rest. Just furnace call after boiler call after frozen water lines after burst lines after whole house freezes. Christ, we had a guy call because his tenant had skipped off and shut off the boiler as a fuck you and within 10 hours the inside of the house looked a glacier took up residence.

If we made it through winter 2014, we'll make it through this one. -10°F through -40°F. That was the winter I learned that -40°F = -40°C. Worked outside a couple times a week that winter. Had to keep rotating pens because the ink would just freeze. My joints would feel frozen stiff.
