Dude broke the cycle and was making it. Now he's been sucked right back into the mud. I'd like to imagine a scenario where this is probable: Idk enough about his family or home life to judge why exactly he left. What I can say is that things like not having a phone can take a person back to a place in time that was so different from what it's become today. I went without a phone for nearly two months a year or so ago now. Took me right back to a better place in time. Certain things suck don't get me wrong but overall it was such a stress relieving experience. Also, there are a ton of people on meds for shit that they shouldn't be on meds for. Big Pharma is another huge problem with the world and how we are experiencing it today. I can only speculate that he wasnt on meds for asthma or some other life saving purposes. The dude probably had had so many ups and downs on psych meds he didn't know what to do. However, he seemingly made a decision that got him a form of natural reset. Unfortunately, he saw the gib was about to be up when he was stopped by police. He decided to go back to his little spot and post up. Fast forward to seeing his family there. At that point he does miss a lot about his old life. He's overwhelmed because of the emotions his family is exerting. So he decides he has amnesia and cannot remember anything to avoid any major confrontations. Unfortunately, his family takes him home and sends him right back to a psych ward for a bit to get him nice and medicated again. Damn, the dude nearly was in the clear.
