Prepping is for hamster people that will be raided 10 minutes after the collapse. If you have anything of value it will become obvious to those around you. You will be in your house, car out in front, shades drawn, occasionally peeking out the window while everyone else is scavenging for food. Only a matter of time before the hungry people swarm you like zombies.

Your best security is ensuring where you live has a reasonably self-sustaining group of people that can grow food, raise livestock, and have enough food on hand to allow them to ramp up production in a time of crisis.

In other words, a group of preppers.

Depends what you consider prepping. Prepping to me means stockpiling goods in anticipation of riding out a period of uncertaintly. Homesteading or locally growing your own food in a rural community isn't necessarily prepping for anything. It's just a way of living that is less susceptible to geopolitical uncertainty. If you live around enough people that live in a robust manner you don't have to prep much to ensure security.
