Required a bit of finesse from the installers to get beyond the pitless adapter. Some well companies can't do it, some can. Your results may vary.

How deep was your Well. Mine is 300 ft. Impossible for me. (So they say)

[–] 1 pt

Mine is 100 ft well, static water level about 40-50 ft.

From the simple pump website:

Use our suction pump cylinder for static water levels less than 25 feet or our deep well pump cylinders for static water levels up to 325 feet!

Fail safe solutions are always a must have for critical resources. That pump will be worth all the money in the world the day a serious power outage kicks in and water is needed

How much did it cost?

[–] 4 pts

Roughly $3k. About $2k for the pump and $1k install.

Did you have the water tested to ensure chemical runoff is not contaminating the water?

Regardless, this is awesome, you're awesome. People like you are the best types of friends to have. Can ask you for advice for almost anything.

No, but the well's been in constant use for over 30 years. So expectations are strong that the water is ok.

You should get it tested. It's cheap. You might need to run it through a Berkey or similar if it has high levels of bad stuff.

I'm envious. My plan involves walking across a street to a stream in a nearby park with two 5 gallon buckets and using my Berkey filter...

At least you have a plan- better than most out there!!

Not really. I'm in a suburb on the outskirts of a city. On the bright side, holy fuck am I heavily armed.

Fun fact: you can legally buy incendiary armor piercing rifle rounds on the internet. The roaming thugs had better bring an armored vehicle. Side benefit, when you go shoot AR500 steel at 200 yards you get a fireworks show.

I disagree, the finding a spot to drill and then actually drilling the well was a hundred times harder (nay, I say much more?) hand pumps? That’s the end game. Too easy.
