Got to be in it to win it, those things are banned from my house, no smart tv, nothing, all the digital assistant's are disabled on my daily also,security cams are hard wired and no internet connectivity. I dont buy from Amazon and dont use Google, fuck all of them!.
Exactly. If you want a "smart" home then local-only is the only way to go. I use Home Assistant and manage everything myself. No cloud.
I don't do the home assistant thing, but my cameras are not allowed to talk outside my network, all "smart" crap is disabled if I'm stuck with it for some reason, and I run Pi-Hole to block anything and everything strange. One of my network extenders was freaking pinging some poor NTP server to check for connectivity every few seconds...really? That was blocked. Why does it matter if it is actually connected to the internet or not? You find so many strange things with Pi-Hole.
