Here's a summary:

  • 2018 study where they measure volatile compounds produced by people watching movies with sex or violence. I guess the joke is "ha ha measuring farts in the theater" but seems like a reasonable study to me.
  • 1971 Navy study where they looked to see what roach poison is best for subs. The one they recommended got declared "toxic" 30 years later by bureaucrats at EU, which seems absolutely irrelevant given that it's supposed to be used on American subs.
  • Some swedish woman who made a career out of recording cat meows.
  • Fatness of politicians correlated with corruption. Funny, except sounds like there's not really a correlation, so it's a joke paper.
  • Orgasms relieve stuffy nose. Now there's a real Ig Nobel worthy study.
  • Guy looked at what bacteria is in discarded gum. Sounds more like a hack jumping on a bandwagon than Ig Nobel.
  • Two studies about how much pedestrians collide.
  • Study about beards as a defense against punches to the face. The lab's PI does have a beard: https://carrier.biology.utah.edu/people.html
  • Flew a rhino upside down to see if it's okay. Isn't it easier right side up though, or on the side?
