I get that self-hosting is not for everyone and you have to either be technical or willing to read a LOT to try to understand most of this stuff since its not so simple to just 1-click install things but it really is not that hard.
I do like the system he picked for a server though. Those things are getting DAMN cheap if they are off-lease or refurb. (No HDD, GFX Card for ~$270)
A 3ghz system /w 128gb of ram and open PCIE slots for better networking and gfx card for AI workloads.
