For the love of God, please don't attempt this really bad "repair" even if you are very knowledgeable of electronics and working with mains current/voltage. This is a recipe for starting a fire and burning down your house or at least potentially electrocuting yourself (I'm looking at you 240 volt system guys). Do not trust this guy and run your LED bulbs without the diffuser either as you will be exposing main current to anything that could come into contact with it. His information is dangerous and you really should not do anything he suggests.
