No he should stay the course and take twitter from them. Sure, doing their communication in a distorted echo chamber has left them out of touch with reality but the sheer size of it lets them recruit easily and heavily influence politics and the economy. How insane they look won't matter when you're in their prison.
The author of this article also seems to think leftists will go back to some semi-rational state (making them more dangerous) without twitter. This simply isn't the case. The most fundamental part of their ideology is "progress". They must always be more "tolerant" more leftist than the previous generation and their competition. To be less extreme than your predecessor is tantamount to being a Nazi to them. They cannot do this, no matter what website they use.
Without control of twitter they will just run to Reddit and become even more extreme.
