Saw there are a couple Ukrainians and one Russian competing.

So much for racial purity...

There's even a half Nigerian in the lower ranks. Mongolians tend to dominate.

They do force them to learn Japanese and respect the culture. If they don't behave, they won't get promoted. They do have limits on foreigners. Each stable is only allowed two foreigners because the Mongolians were taking over.

So they're "playing nice" for now. Good - they need to exercise control. Which YT channel is it on? Sounds like something I need to watch at least once or twice.

To watch it live, starts May 10th, look up Leo Dickenson sumo. For highlights in English, once the basho starts, NHK World on YouTube has it. There are a handful of people who discuss stuff in between tournaments like ChrisSumo.

What a weird sport to follow.

Lol. Fell in love with it as a little kid. My parents had one of those giant satellite dishes in the 80s. I'd sneak down late at night and put it on mute and watch weird stuff. Fell in love with sumo. I found out that I can actually watch it live on Youtube, so omg, so much fun. I'd only been watching highlights for years. My bf thinks it's nuts, but since he was a wrestler in school, explains stuff to me because there is some overlap and he'll watch the big matches.

Yeah, really capable of rushing past, or even overpowering, the biggest offensive linemen.

But it is funny, watching those Japanese Niggas block a Nigga Nigger.
