Luck doesn't owe the Colts anything, but you have to think this is something that has been in the back of his mind, so why not retire at the end of last season or before the preseason started? At least then the Colts have time to plan. This is the equivalent of walking off the job in the middle of your shift.

It does seem like bad timing. If he had it in mind, he should've coordinated better with the team. I haven't even looked to see who's their backup, but at this stage of preseason, if they don't have a good option, it's gonna be a long, dry season.
