I assume the busing idea, or at least how it was portrayed was that the negro would somehow integrate with polite society by osmosis. (being around white schools)

Yes, I was in school back then. In my town the reason most people didn't like it was not because of race, but simply because it destroyed the idea of attending a school in your own neighborhood.

I never could figure out how these (((experts))) came to the conclusion by dropping blacks into majority white areas would result in a better outcome for the blacks? Oh wait...that wasn't the plan.
