A rather unfortunate name for a seemingly highly useful plant: Yaupon holly.

I've seen it on my hikes in the southeast, but only recently read up on it. It is one of two native plants in north America containing caffeine (the other one is also a holly), and makes a fairly tasty (?) tea. In fact one of its informal names is "Carolina tea". Apparently it's use is making a comeback with herbalists and naturalists, with cultivation for uses beyond landscaping now occuring as well.

It's taxonomic name has a bit of an interesting/amusing story behind it. Check it out if you have a moment.
