Interesting. Here I can get close but not achieve 20 lbs base weight. I go to desert locations so carrying like 30 lbs water (no natural sources) so it seems silly to care about each lb when you can't change the water

I have got a base weight of 14lbs and typically carry 2 liters (smart water bottles) to begin. This would be for overnight hike. Look at your big 3, I use HMG, Feathered Friends and MLD bivy w tarp. Water in abundance. North East USA
