A Danish study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine Wednesday found that masks did not reduce the coronavirus (COVID-19) infection rate among wearers in a clinical trial — questioning an assertion made as recently as last week by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The findings did not dispute that masks prevented transmission of the virus to others; however, the researcher’s conclusions found that there was not a significant statistical difference of infections between mask wearers and non-mask wearers in the large, randomized clinical trial.
