Early 70's, my vet gave my dog prednisone for an allergy. He told me it'd only been approved for animals, but he took it for his hay fever.

More recently (well, 5+ years ago), it was prescribed for my current dog. Pharmacist at the University vet center told me to get it from WM, the human version was cheaper.

Another animal drug now used for humans.

My vet always recommends the human version of a drug if we have to give one to our dogs. All you need to do is make sure the dosage is correct.
