Just like the episode "" where they provide a cure for disease, but the shot causes sterility. Their long game was population reduction.
Its worse. It says the medicine was a Goa'uld symbiot. So the drug was a living creature that could infect and take over the host.
The drug didn't take over the host in the show, but yes was created from a symbiote. It just left them dependent on continuing to get it cuz the natural immunity was destroyed.
Oh right. Guess I was blending episodes together since I haven't seen it since highschool.

The poison gene therapy doesn't provide immunity, otherwise very similar. Kek.
That is true, but it's the concept that is the same.
