I'd be happy if they just stick to making America Great Again and put $1000 bills back in circulation.

Representative Joe Wilson (R-SC) has announced that he’s drafting legislation to create a $250 bill featuring President Trump.

Rep. Wilson wrote in a post on X, “Grateful to announce that I am drafting legislation to direct the Bureau of Engraving and Printing to design a $250 bill featuring Donald J. Trump. Biden-flation has destroyed the economy, forcing American families to carry more cash.”

Wilson added, “Most valuable bill for most valuable President!”

A policy advisor for Rep. Wilson shared the amount of $250 was chosen to commemorate the United State’s 250th anniversary in 2026. . .

I don't care if they do or don't I think it's hilarious. I'm mostly in the camp of back our money with something of actual value instead of "trust me bro".

The only thing that makes the USD worth something is basically "trust". To a smaller degree its "oil" and "we will kill you if you don't use it".

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to recall learning in school something about American currency requiring the person featured on it to already be dead before the currency can be issued. I'm probably wrong though, given other nations have used notes with live persons

I didn't know for sure either, and so I looked it up.

You're right.

What if the real story is that we need a $250 bill to buy groceries?

A $1000 bill adjusted for inflation from when originally issued would be worth $100,000-$200,000 today. So like, a few pounds of gold in today’s dollars. Fiat currency is weird.

Sounds kind of stupid. If they do it, it should be one of those "limited run collectors" bills or something.

I don't think it will go anywhere. There is some rule that a POTUS must be dead at least 2 years before US currency can be made in their likeness. Plus a $250 bill would be an oddity, like the $2 bill.

haha, there are still people today that think $2 bills are fake.

So much so that I am considering getting a few hundred of them to pay for things with just to watch people's brains break.
